What else can you do to protect your employment?

Read more about this threat in Services First Campaign news.

number1 Will my job be outsourced from the Government?
number2 What happens if my position is outsourced?
The Economic Audit Committee requires all Agencies to review their activities annually, for the suitability to be opened up to competition from the private & non-profit sectors. If your position is outsourced from the Government you may be offered 'suitable employment' by a new employer in the private & non-profit sectors.
number3 What is meant by "Suitable Employment?"
number4 What if I refuse their "Suitable Employment?"
'Suitable employment' can be a position substantially different from your current position that pays 80-110% of your current salary. Regulation 3(2)(ii) If you refuse 'suitable employment' or hinder the process, this will be dealt with as a disciplinary matter. PSMA Section 94
number5 What will happen in a disciplinary matter?
number6 How can we prevent this from happening?
If you breach discipline by refusing an offer of 'suitable employment' your current employer must dismiss you. Public Sector Reform Bill Section 96 inserts a new 82A (3) into the PSMA 1: Attend the Rally and bring your colleagues! 2: Help spread the word by setting up a meeting at your workplace. 3: Don't believe promises that "it won't happen here!"
