Find our about your workplace Employee Assistance Program (EAP) on your intranet.

All Department and Agency staff have access to an Employee Assistance Program through their employer. Sessions are are held with external consultants (Counsellors, Psychologists) so that your sessions remain completely confidential. Immediately family members may also attend, and you may have your sessions at work or a non-work venue.

The Employee Assistance Program aims to support employees (usually at no cost to employees) undergoing work and personal difficulties. Some workplaces offer a limited number of sessions with the EAP provider obtaining approval from the employer if they believe further sessions would be beneficial.

EAP services generally include:

Access to professional counselling for work and personal issues
Health promotion information e.g. diet, smoking cessation, etc
Fitness and relaxation information and exercise programs
Training e.g. time management, learning other coping skills.

The Employee Assistance Professional Association of Australia provides a list of EAPs throughout Australia. Click on the map to find an EAP in your state.
The Australian Health Practitioners Registration Agency has search facilities to assist in locating Registered Psychologists in your area.
The Yellow Pages can also provide information on EAPs by following the prompts and searching under Psychologists or Occupational Health & Safety.
Your workplace’s employee information notice board, intranet, human resources department, personnel officer or supervisor can provide details of how to contact the workplace’s EAP providers.

Beyond Blue

Beyond Blue is an online chat/phone support service for people suffering from Anxiety, Depression and related issues. They offer tailored and specific support for young people, women, men, older people, multicultural people, Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander people, LGBTIQ people and those dealing with pregnancy and early parenthood. They also offer community and forum-based networks for users to seek help from others experiencing the same or similar issues.

Lifeline WA delivers services that aim to prevent suicide, support people in crisis and create opportunities for emotional wellbeing. Somewhere in Australia there is a new call to Lifeline every minute. People contact Lifeline’s crisis support services about: suicidal thoughts or attempts; personal crisis; anxiety; depression; lonliness; abuse or trauma; stresses from work, family or social situations; self-help information for friends and family.

WOMENS' HEALTH

Womens' Information Service (WA)

The Women's Information Service offers free, confidential information for women throughout Western Australia. The free telephone service operates from 9.00am to 4.00pm on week days. It provides information and referrals about issues such as health, finances, legal matters, counselling and domestic violence.

Womens' Domestic Violence Helpline (WA)

The Womens' Domestic Violence Helpline is a state-wide 24 hour service offered by the Department for Child Protection and Family Support. This service provides support and counselling for women experiencing family and domestic violence. This includes phone counselling, information and advice, referral to local advocacy and support services, liaison with police if necessary and support in escaping situations of family and domestic violence.

LGBTIQ SUPPORT

Living Proud (formerly Gay and Lesbian Community Services of WA)

Living Proud is available to anyone to talk about sexuality and gender, no matter what they identify as. Their phone counsellors can also refer you to gender and sexuality friendly doctors, psychologists, counsellors or lawyers, and other community groups that you might wish to connect with. They also run community workshops and inclusivity training.
