GROH Community Meetings
Last year, as a “corrective measure” to address its budget woes, the Barnett State Government made significant changes to the Tenant Rent Setting Framework Policy. These changes resulted in rent increases of up to $60 per fortnight for WA public sector employees living in Government Regional Officers Housing (GROH).
Many people working in the public sector rely on GROH to be financially able to live and work in regional WA. Sharp increases to GROH rents have hit hard, and are likely to have an ongoing negative impact on attracting and retaining people to deliver public services to regional communities.
Your Union is working together with other public sector unions to challenge the Government’s GROH rent increases and will be joining the State School Teachers Union (SSTUWA) to hold community meetings about this matter in the Pilbara in the coming weeks.

Brendan Grylls is the current state Member for Pilbara, Minister for Housing and a member of the current government that decided to raise GROH rents. He, along with all other political party candidates standing for the seat of Pilbara, have been invited to attend these forums.
With the state election less than 2 months away, these meetings provide a unique opportunity to influence Mr Grylls and other political candidates on this issue. To maximise our impact, we need as strong turnout. Please RSVP your attendance via the Facebook event pages (see links above) or by emailing Wendy.Parer@cpsucsa.org .
