State Industrial Relations System Submission
The McGowan government has initiated a review into the State’s Industrial Relations system, commissioning Mr Mark Ritter SC assisted by Mr Stephen Price MLA, the Member for Forrestfield, to conduct the review, and has invited submissions from stakeholders. A report is expected recommending areas for reform.
With the input of members who have attended the Western Australian Industrial Relations Commission, the Public Service Appeal Board, and the Public Service Arbitrator, the CPSU/CSA made a submission which highlighted the benefits of unifying these jurisdictions and broadening the scope of access for our members.
In particular, the submission argued that public sector disputes should be heard in the general jurisdiction of the Commission and extend to the hearing of disputes over Public Sector Standards, redeployment and redundancy and reclassification. The CPSU/CSA also supports establishing equal remuneration and anti-bullying jurisdictions within the state system.
