We are very pleased to announce that the schools on-call claim has received a further boost. We have just received offers of payment to another 20 members which takes the total of our win to $738,987.44. There are still another 20 to investigate so we are well on our way to one million dollars.

Education members joined parents, kids and other school staff to protest the Barnett Government’s $180million in cuts to our public education system. Up to 22,000 are reported to have marched up the Terrace to Parliament House to make their voices heard.

Teachers, Education Assistants and support staff will again take to the streets to call for the Barnett Government to return the funding it has ripped out of WA’s public schools. Education Alliance members will also call on the Premier not to slash even more funding in the upcoming state budget. The Alliance will be joined by members of the community, parents and Principals in a Community Day of Action on April 1st.

Education Unions the State School Teachers’ Union, United Voice and CPSU/CSA, today held a cake stall outside the Premier’s Palace to raise money for schools struggling under the weight of the government’s cuts to education. Schools were being forced to take money out of their budgets to cover long service leave entitlements, which for some could add up to $80,000 dollars a year.
