This week 24 people completed their training as Youth Custodial Officers and will start at Banksia Hill Detention Centre. Congratulations!
Youth Custodial Officers (YCOs) at Banksia Hill have won back their right to have time spent in the gate house counted towards their ordinary hours of work.
With the help of the union, members have successfully challenged an instruction that saw them losing at least forty minutes per day of unpaid time.
It has been a hard year for members at Banksia Hill, but we are taking the first steps in the right direction with 7 new OSH Reps trained and ready to make work life safer in the juvenile facility.
