Barnett's Trojan Horse

CPSU/CSATake action now. The Barnett government is taking away your job security and putting the services you deliver at risk.

Last Thursday, the Premier and Treasurer announced a number of serious changes which will run services down. They are rolling a trojan horse into parliament that will:

  • cut 1200 full-time equivalent jobs from the public sector;
  • introduce forced redundancies for public sector workers that enable them to cut (permanent) jobs en masse;
  • limit public sector staff wage increases to CPI (currently 2.4%) whilst granting their own staff pay rises up to $84K and
  • limit the independence of the WA Industrial Relations Commission to determine fair wage outcomes for public sector workers.

It is time to act now - against an attack being mounted upon you and your colleagues in the WA public sector.

Here is the first of several steps:

Please download, print, sign and circulate this Petition to everyone in your workplace, member or not.

Once signed please return to your Delegate or the CPSU/CSA by Wednesday, 31 July 2013

As parliamentary petitions require the original documents supplied, please MAIL back to:

GPO Box X2252
Perth, WA, 6847

We know from past experience that when we work together, we can successfully defend public services from these sorts of attacks. Please be ready to participate in further actions, including a rally on August 6.

We are meeting with Premier Barnett on 9 July. We will keep you informed of any developments arising from this and any other contact with government on the issue.

For more information, please see this FAQ we have begun. It will develop as matters progress.

In unity,

Rikki Hendon
Acting Branch Secretary
CPSU/CSA
