Feedback Wanted: An Office for Advocacy and Accountability in Aboriginal Affairs in WA

The CPSU/CSA is developing a submission in response to the Discussion Paper recently published by the Department of Premier and Cabinet titled An office for advocacy and accountability in Aboriginal affairs in Western Australia.

The Minister for Aboriginal Affairs made the announcement that the consultation period for the establishment of an independent statutory body has commenced, with a public comment period open until September 7, 2018. The proposed functions of the new office are to strengthen government’s accountability to Aboriginal Western Australians and to advocate for Aboriginal people’s interests in government policy and performance.

The CPSU/CSA will be making a submission before this deadline in consultation with members who this affects through our ATSI meetings, ATSI workshops, emails and other communications. The CPSU/CSA is particularly interested in hearing from our Aboriginal members. If you would like to contribute to this submission, please email your feedback on the Discussion Paper to saveourservices@cpsucsa.org

The CPSU/CSA will continue to be in contact with members to inform the content of its response submission and to provide updates on the status of the consultation period.
