Sustainable Health Review
The CPSU/CSA submission for the Sustainable Health Review has been unique insofar as it represents the interlinked nature of health services for each State Departmental Agency, and the broader impacts of health service delivery reform.
A number of recommendations have been developed as part of CPSU/CSA’s work on this Review, with many recommendations focusing on current challenges within the workplace which create waste and limit the public’s opportunity to access quality care and benefit from preventative health outcomes.
The CPSU/CSA submission recommendations can be divided into three broad themes identified from engagement with our membership:
- Budget savings measures must not compromise the ongoing long-term strategy to retain Department system managers resourced to improve our service delivery models
- The Review must examine current funding arrangements and delivery of preventative health outcomes to identify and rectify any flaws found
- Department staff must be empowered to identify savings through reform of service delivery and the latest public health research
In addition, the Submission developed a list of key asks from Dental Health Services Members, and weighed in on the upcoming discussions around transition of health services in the Department of Justice. Excessive paperwork, duplication and redundant reporting mechanisms were identified in an effort to ensure the Department is able to have robust safety structures that still allow members to be highly productive and not enmeshed in unnecessary reporting structures.
The CPSU/CSA will continue to play an active role in the review to ensure members views are well represented, and that current budget savings measures do not compromise the important work members’ conduct.
