WorkSafe Win: Six More Inspectors

The CPSU/CSA welcomes the addition of new safety inspectors at WorkSafe.

Melanie Bray, Acting Secretary of CPSU/CSA says the six new inspectors will help provide more timely investigations and action on unsafe workplaces.

“WorkSafe inspectors do critical work across WA.

“They make sure we are safe in our workplaces, both physically and from bullying and harassment,” she said.

CPSU/CSA Delegates are still calling for more support and to fill up-to five more vacant inspector positions.

“The Union has been working with members to address the issues facing investigators at Joint Consultative Committees including; understaffing, dangerously high workloads and increasing operational support.

“We will continue to work with the Department and support the current 89 inspectors to make sure they can continue their important work.

“Six new Inspectors are a welcome addition to the team and will help investigate workplace issues across public and private operators.”

An increase in allocated FTE was requested in the CPSU/CSA’s WorkSafe submission in 2017.
