24 New Youth Custodial Officers Join the Ranks
This week 24 people completed their training as Youth Custodial Officers and will start at Banksia Hill Detention Centre. Congratulations!
Youth Custodial Officers play an important role in transforming the way Youth Justice Services improve the life chances of young people in detention.
They are role models, mentors and implement evidenced-based ways of working with young people and their families. They help create an environment where young people are supported to lead productive, law-abiding lives and become culturally stronger.
As part of Training YJW’s attend the Department's Academy in Bentley and Banksia Hill Detention Centre and complete a CSC30115 Certificate III in Correctional Practice (Youth Custodial) whilst on the job.
This training includes; emergency situations, security, managing conflict, first aid and cultural training.
CPSU/CSA members look forward to working with you and we welcome you to your new careers!
