Media Statement: Commercialisation of Landgate Revenue Streams
This morning, Branch Secretary Toni Walkington met with The Premier Mark McGowan and others, to discuss the future of Landgate
Toni Walkington, Branch Secretary;
“We are cautiously optimistic with the decision from the McGowan Government.
“This Union was at the forefront of keeping Landgate in public hands through the Our Landgate campaign.
“The most important outcome is that Landgate continues to function as public asset for the people of WA.
“One of our major concerns was that personal data of West Australians was going to be sold to the highest bidder and although we wait for the final details of the tender, we are assured that the personal data of West Australians and the cost of title searches will be protected.
“We also welcome this government’s commitment to the Midland community, with the retention of secure permanent jobs at Landgate’s Midland office hub.
“This move means the McGowan government has adhered to their pre-election promise of keeping public assets in public hands and protecting WA jobs.”
