The Legal Benefits Scheme (LBS) will provide eligible Union members access to subsidised, specific legal services, offered by Slater & Gordon. Eligible members may access the LBS if they are being investigated as a result of their employment and criminal charges may be laid and neither their employer, nor any other public sector entity, is providing financial assistance or otherwise for legal representation.
The Union pays the subsidy directly to Slater and Gordon for legal services and the maximum amount a person can receive under the LBS is $5,000 per person, per financial year.
The LBS is a new addition to the legal benefits already offered to members through Slater & Gordon, which include a free 45 minute consultation and discounted legal services.
