NEW DELEGATE SECURES WIN FOR STATEWIDE SERVICES

New Delegate secures win for Statewide Services

The determination and dedication of a new Union Delegate has secured flexible working arrangements at Statewide Services in Padbury.

Sitting on the former Padbury Senior High School site, Statewide Services supports teachers and principals who have students with extra needs or behavioural challenges. It’s also the head office for the Education Department’s Swimming & Water Safety (VacSwim).

As a former large high school site, it has some challenges when dealing with public access and security. Because of this, management tried to introduce a mandate of working hours strictly between 7.30am and 5.30pm.

Education members said these new times would impact on their ability to plan and perform personal and families duties and raised the issue with their Delegate.

The issue was brought forward at the Education Department’s central office Joint Consultative Committee (JCC), where members can raise issues directly with HR and senior executives.

After six months of continuously raising the issue, the department investigated the claims.

It found in favour of CPSU/CSA members and returned access to flexible working arrangements for all staff at the Padbury site.

Members said they were relieved and grateful for their hard-working Delegate, who made sure management was made accountable and a positive outcome was achieved.
